Posted on July 25, 2022  in Stoke

Stoke City take on Cork to wrap up a week-long training camp in Ireland, just three weeks before the start of the Championship season. Stoke have been based at Fota Island over the last few days, with double sessions as Michael O’Neill builds up his squad ready for an away game at Millwall in late July. There will be five new signings on display for travelling Stoke fans, as well as a host of young players hoping to catch the manager’s eye.

When is kick-off?

It’s a 5pm kick-off on Saturday, July 9 at Turner’s Cross Stadium, in Cork. Turner’s Cross has a capacity of 7,485 and Stoke supporters will be based in the St Anne’s End.

Team news

Stoke players are expected to feature for up to an hour. They all got 45 minutes each in a behind closed doors against Leeds last weekend.

Stoke squad in Cork: Bursik, Bonham, Fielding; Clarke, Sparrow, Duhaney, Fox, Tymon, McCarron, Jones, Flint, Jagielka, Wilmot, Taylor, Forrester, Clucas, Baker, Thompson, Laurent, Kilkenny, Griffiths, Brown, Campbell, Wright-Phillips, Goodwin, Tezgel.

Cork are currently top of the League of Ireland First Division, winning 15 and losing only one of their opening 20 games. Ruairi Keating is seven-goal top scorer while Cian Murphy and Barry Coffey have both scored six. Kieran Coates, who had been on loan from Stoke, left the club last week.

It’s a nine-team division and this is Cork’s turn to have a weekend off, which gives them an opportunity to fit in this fixture.

Is it live on TV?

Afraid not, on England or Ireland.

How can I follow it?

Cork will be streaming the game online, with a match pass available for €5.

Both teams will be looking to prepare well for their pre-season in a bid to get prepared ahead of the start of next season.
