STOKE BOUNCE BACK

After suffering four consecutive defeats, Stoke City managed to bounce back to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Blackburn during the weekend. It has finally arrested on the slide that had brought so many relegation fears amongst the squad and their manager.
Rory Delap says that the reason that Stoke have bounced back from their defeats is the fact that they have gone back to the basis once again. After spending a lot of money in the summer, it is thought that Stoke perhaps forgot the fact that they had come up from the Championship only a few seasons ago.
Before this weekend, Stoke City were only a couple of points ahead of the drop zone. It needed quick action on the part of both the manager Tony Pulis and the players to halt the decline. The Stoke City fans were more than happy to see their team return to winning ways, even if it meant a return to less sophisticated football.
It was the ideal match to get all three points and once again marks the Premier League as the top priority for the Potters – it is thought that one of the contributory factors for their failures this season was that they had taken eye off the Premier League after the recent success in the Europa League. However, they know that the bread and butter is more important than the extras.
After the important win, one of Stoke City’s most important players Rory Delap said “We simply haven’t been good enough. We haven’t done what we do well enough. If you can’t do that then you are going to get punished in this league, and that’s what has happened in our last four games. We played well for perhaps 10 or 15 minutes at a time, but that’s not good enough.”
Rory Delap made his 550th appearance in the club game when he played against Blackburn.
