Lacazette tips young Arsenal midfielder to become one of the best

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has backed young midfielder Matteo Guendouzi to become one of the best in the world. The 20-year-old is presently in his second campaign with the Gunners and he has already become a constant figure at the heart of the midfielder alongside captain Granit Xhaka.

Speaking on the club’s official website, Lacazette compared Guendouzi with the top midfielders in the world by stating the Frenchman’s desire to make things happen with the ball. He added that his compatriot wants to be one of the best midfielders and he is going through the right path after making a positive beginning to the campaign.

He told: “We can see that every top midfielder in the world is like this [in terms of demanding the ball and being brave]. They all want to take the ball. Matteo has a good ambition, he wants to be one of the best players in his position so every day he is trying to be the best and this month he showed that he can be.”

Guendouzi has yet to play the perfect game for the Gunners and he has come up with a couple of salvage acts during the second half of matches. One of those came during the north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur where he produced a dominant performance after the break which included a sublime defence splitting pass for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s equaliser.

His performances have already been rewarded with a maiden call-up to the France national team but he has yet to make his debut for Les Bleus. Still, there are plenty of positives to carry forward for the midfielder and it remains to be seen whether he can show the same level of consistency over the course of the season to become a real contender for the Euros next summer.
