Stoke City boss emphasises on finding form in the forward department

Stoke City manager Gary Rowett has suggested that his team must find the form in the forward department after getting better with the defensive side of their game. The Potters started the season banging goals on a regular basis but they could not secure regular points after conceding more than they wanted.

However, over the past month, that has seen an improvement with goalkeeper Jack Butland particularly impressive between the sticks and Rowett is now concerned about the goals which have dried up of late. Speaking to reporters, Rowett said: “If you look at the season so far, we were creating lots of chances early season, but it was no good scoring two if we are conceding three.

“So we have improved the defensive side of it a lot and it’s clear to see.But we have still got into some great areas and we have to take our chances, which is something we have talked about and worked on this week. The forwards and the midfielders have got to be more dangerous and create more chances and score more goals. We have the players but have to show it.”

Stoke were lying near the drop zone during the early phase of the campaign after picking up just one win from the opening six matches. However, they have since made progress towards the top half of the standings and they are currently separated from the playoff positions by the margin of just six points.

Nonetheless, the scoring may need to improve in the near future, considering they have found the scoresheet on just two occasions over the past five league matches. Stoke are scheduled to face Queens Park Rangers at home in the first game after the international break and the match promises to be an entertainer with the visitors coming off four victories from the previous five matches.
