Stoke City midfielder John Obi Mikel has insisted that he is currently enjoying his stay and football at the club and despite reports suggesting that he could be sealing a move away from the Potters, he has quashed those reports and labeled them just rumors.

The Nigerian midfielder has been a mainstay at the heart of Stoke City’s midfield this season and has shown signs of improvement since he was given the opportunity to feature in consecutive games. After signing for the club last summer, the midfielder encountered some difficulty settling in but he has now found his rhythm and his place in the team is no longer under threat like it was.

NAUGHTON RETURNS FOR STOKE CLASH

Swansea City defender Kyle Naughton has returned to boost his team ahead of the league match with Stoke City in the English Championship. The experienced defender is expected to be a part of the Swansea City squad for the game after he recovered well from a recent injury problem. His availability for the Stoke City game on Wednesday night was confirmed by Swansea City boss Steve Cooper during his pre-match press conference on Monday ahead of the game. Steve Cooper suffered a big dent on their Premier League promotion hopes when they were beaten at home by Bristol City and the Swansea City manager is keen to quickly move on from the defeat. Steve Cooper also gave an update on the injury status of two experienced players, Wayne Routledge and Ryan Bennett. Petite winger Wayne Routledge is recovering from injury but he’s not yet ready to return ahead of the Stoke City game according to his manager, while Ryan Bennett is recovering well from the calf injury that continues to keep him out of action.

O’Neill happy with gritty win over Middlesbrough

Stoke City manager Michael O’Neill says that the club had to dig deep to get the victory over Middlesbrough during the weekend. The Potters managed back-to-back wins in the league for the first time this season, as they managed to secure a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough. Nathan Collins came up with the winner after 19 minutes and the score was identical to the win achieved over Wycombe in the previous match. Back then, Nick Powell came up with his fourth goal of the campaign to provide still with crucial three points. As a result of the win over Middlesbrough, Stoke have risen to 5^th position in the table.

O’Neill claimed that his team had to display a lot of character in order to come out with three points. The team was struggling with a number of injuries even before the match and the inability to field a full strength team was one of the main problems for the home team. Yet, Stoke were able to get a positive result even amidst this difficult period and it pleases the manager, who stated that the game could have been a lot more easier if the team had been able to get a second goal. Brendan Rodgers and his Leicester City side travel away to Stoke City in their FA Cup clash as he looks to secure qualification to the next round. Rodgers is expected to make a host of changes to his side as he hands rest to his key players and will also likely hand some playing time to several of his fringe players.

Both James Maddison and Jamie Vardy are injured and are automatically out of the tie and there are more first-team players expected to sit out the fixture as they prepare for the second half of the Premier League season.

STOKE SEEK TO END WINLESS RUN

Stoke City have not won any of their last two games in the English Championship but they have the opportunity to correct it when they travel to London to face Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Tuesday evening in the first game of week 19 matches in the second tier of English football this term. The recent run of two winless matches has derailed their push for a place in the playoffs but the club is still within touching distance of the final playoff spot presently occupied by London club Brentford.

Ahead of the new set of games in the Championship, Stoke City are two points off Brentford who reached the playoff final last season before they were piped to a place in the Premier League by Fulham.

Stoke City Beats Reading to Move Forward

The royal team Reading lost their 3rd consecutive match against Stoke City. Both the teams play in the English Football League Championship which is the second tier league of the country. 21 teams take part in this league and the winner gets their place in the Premier League straight away. In the match against Stoke City, Reading was training with 2 goals even before the end of the first half. But the result will not tell you the actual story of the match. The Royal team was dominating throughout the match as they kept most of the ball possession with them.

But Stoke City capitalized the half chances that they got from the defensive lack of Reading and pulled the match in their favor. Despite the hard work of all the footballers of Reading, they couldn’t manage to score a single goal and lost the match. This defeat didn’t push them downwards in the table and Stoke City moved some steps higher in the table.

Stoke City opens up their options in the transfer window even though the season has not yet come to an end. Their place at Championship is still uncertain and the dates for either the next season or transfer window hasn’t been decided. But the speculations have begun regarding what Stoke City manager Michael O’Neill will be focusing in the summer transfer window what his strategies will be.

The names that have been linked are Wigan Athletic goalkeeperDavid Marshall and Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull. As Wigan has entered administration last week, they are making the bids to sell their players.

Boyle targeted by Huddersfield and Stoke City

Hibernian winger Martin Boyle has his contract expire by the end of this season. As per the reports, two Championship club, Stoke City and Huddersfield Town, are competing for the player. The Scottish club has announced huge cuts on the budget as they have suffered huge losses due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

In the Championship table, Stoke City is standing at 18^th position for 43 points and Huddersfield is on the 20^th position with 42 points. They both have shown interest towards the player and with the current situation of Hibernian, they will be offering a very good deal concerning them. (more…)

Sam Vokes gives an update on Joe Allen’s injury

Stoke City striker Sam Vokes has said that he has been in regular contact with Joe Allen since he suffered his Achilles injury in March. The Welsh midfielder has been a key member of the Potters squad but he won’t take any part for the rest of the season after sustaining the horrendous injury in the 5-1 win over Hull City.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Vokes said that he has been speaking regularly with his compatriot. He added that Allen was expected to miss out on the European Championship this summer but the postponement of the competition has done good for him, he told: “I speak to Joe regularly, I think he’s doing very well.

Jonathan Walters praises Stoke City for coronavirus action

Jonathan Walters, who is the former Irish footballer, in a recent interview, complimented Stoke City on their precautionary measures in the time of Covid-19 pandemic. He may be retired, but still, he retains the connections with the football world and its fans.

He criticized British Health secretary Matt Hancock for commenting on how professional footballers of European leagues can contribute to the nation in order to control the economic downfall faced due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
